Our Origin

STITCH KITCHEN started as JUST ATELIER TRUST, a social enterprise founded in 2015 by fashion entrepreneurs Fiona Clements AKA Senorita AweSUMO and Fiona Jenkin, who were independent tenants in a building on Vogel Street. Interest in our sewing classes grew rapidly as we added workshops, ran events in association with Fashion Revolution, the Vogel Street Party, and community pop up events with Dunedin Dream Brokerage.

In 2019 we became a charitable trust and renamed our project 'Stitch Kitchen' - reflecting our experience gathering friends together around the table, sharing creative ingredients, ideas, skills and time. In July 2020 we relocated to our current studio space in the historic 'Prince of Wales Hotel' at 474 Princes Street where we renovated the tired space and are forever grateful for the help of our brilliant volunteers!
