Autumn Fabric Sale

It’s a Stitch Kitchen specialty, but this dish comes with added flavour from iD Dunedin Fashion Week!

Our Autumn fundraising fabric sale has become a tradition for us, and this year the timing worked out beautifully to coincide with the calendar for iD. This is a great opportunity to extend our kitchen table welcome to local, national (and perhaps even some international) designers and fashion followers.

We’ve been busy, as always, preparing the smörgåsbord of fabrics, patterns, buttons, trims and threads from the generous donations from our community, and cannot wait to see the delight on everyone’s faces as they feast their eyes on our collection.

The sale opened in style on Saturday 25th March, with thanks to Platinum Recruitment, Sandymount Distillery and Spark Business Hub. The opening was a special ‘thank you’ event for our regular customers, class participants, and volunteers.

Our special guest for the event was Tara Viggo, Founder and Design Director of Paper Theory Patterns and guest judge in this year’s Emerging Design awards as part of ID Fashion week.

The sale continues this week, till Saturday 1st April at 4pm.

Our goal is to raise $5,886, the cost of 3 new overlockers and irons for our sewing studio. These will make our sewing space safer, more user friendly, and help to reduce our maintenance budget on our current equipment.

It was excellent having our new Trustees Dean Delaney, David Dalley, and Adele Isaacs on hand to serve and connect with our amazing community! (Regrettably absent was Richard Wilson - who was there ‘in spirit’… thanks to the contribution of the gin. ;) )

Stitch Kitchen

Stitch Kitchen is a living story of gathering friends together around the table, sharing ingredients, ideas, skills, and time, to nurture ourselves and our community.

Our mission is to inspire and build community through creative practices to reduce textile waste and its impact on our environment.

We have all the ingredients to help you reach your creative goals!

Add your own flavour to the creative mix in our community sewing studio , located in central Dunedin, in the lower South Island of New Zealand.
